Britney Spears Preliminary Task

My group as a whole worked quite well together as we all had different strengths and they all worked well together. Before we started filming we done some planning, each member of the group took ten seconds of the Britney – Hit Me Baby music video and we print screened each shot and made a massive storyboard, by doing this it was helpful when filming and helping the filming process as a whole run smoothly.

For the costume of Britney it was quite a simple school uniform as she is wearing knee high grey socks, a black skirt, white shirt and a grey cardigan therefore, this was not a problem for the girls involved as we all had access to similar clothing items.

We also felt as if everyone had to take part in being in front of the camera therefore, the pressure would not solely be on one person so we all took it in turns to be Britney. Following this we had some difficulties when filming as there were several absences meaning our main Britney’s weren’t always there which meant some of the filming could not be done in lesson time. There was also some scenes where we needed extras which was difficult as we couldn’t use other members from our classroom as they were filming their own Britney video so instead, we found people in their frees from our year and used them which cause difficulties as it wasted valuable filming time.

When filming we didn’t need any props for the actual shots however, we needed to use a tripod for all our shots so it didn’t seem very unprofessional. Also at the beginning of the video, it shows a tracking shot in the classroom which we found quite hard to film as we were all quite unsteady which lead to shaky and unprofessional shots. After we had tried this repeatedly to get a steady shot we came up with a new original idea which was taking a box and turning it upside down and pushed it along the floor with the camera on top of it, by doing this it allowed a smooth transition for the tracking shot.

The setting of the music video is in school which made it easy for us to film as we had the typical school settings to film in. By having the music video in school it meant that we could film easy and we had access to filming in these areas without needing permission. In the last stages of filming we separated the group, with two people piecing the shots together and editing it all and the rest of the group carried on filming the last few shots. By doing this it allowed us to reach the deadline that had been set.

If I were to do this task again I would definitely manage my time a lot better by organising the extras we needed in which lesson and what was going to be shot in that lesson, this could have been done by using a shooting schedule.
