Editing Practise

I started off by looking at videos on YouTube of people's videos featuring the use of GoPro's, there was a variety of clips therefore, I could chop and change all the clips in order to create my own piece on Premier Pro that could help when practising.

An idea we had for our own personal music video was to have it burst into colour so that was the first thing I wanted to try out and play with. I had a look at the colouring editing section and found a black and white tool which made my entire first clip black and white however, it didn’t follow with the song or the shot. Following this when I listening to the music that I had over the top of my clips, I found an opportunity where I could make it burst into colour. It was in the first 5 seconds of the song and I was able to make it burst into colour then so I did and cut the shots in order to fit it perfectly with the song which will help me when I’m making my own, as it means I now have more practise fitting shots with timings of music.

The next thing I wanted to try was to create a difference in pace so I played with this throughout the entire piece, creating a faster and slower pace in different areas to fit with the song again. In some cases, I have repeated a shot twice and then slowed the second version down or I have cut a shot into two and then changed the pace of the second half.

I also played with some effects but didn’t decide to put them on the piece as I felt that I would never use them however, it has given me a wider idea of the types of things that I am able to do when editing which is helpful when coming to editing my music video, in some cases these may fit with the idea that we end up going for.
