Production Diary: Week 3

Week 3:
  • We found a few different digipaks and taped them to the board where we picked out some of the main features of the digipaks and the target audience it appealed to, for example we looked at a Britney Spears one from a while ago and decided that it would attract audiences of possibly younger years as the images are quite innocent and plain which relfected her career at the time and how she was an idol for many. She also looks as if she is a teenager so it means that the audience could possibly relate to her and then it means that it would be able to entice them to buy her album. We also have to create our own digipaks for our own artists so by looking at these it provided inspiration for our own ones but also allowed to see the core conventions and how we would create our own digipaks.
  • We were given the task to re-create an exsisting digipak so my group and I decided to use Rihanna - Loud as her digipak appeals to a wide range of audiences, possibly ranging from teenagers to mid 30's. I think it appeals to a teenage audience in the fact that she has almost grown up with teenagers as shes been in the public eye since 'Pon De Replay' however, it could appeal to an older audience as its quite sexalised as her hair and lips are red and when the digipak is openeed there is a background of red roses. Although, when re-creating it none of the members of my group had red hair so that became a bit of a problem so we could only use red lipstick. Also due to us not having a rose bush background so we had to put Ellie against a plain background and edited a rose background into it in order to fit the conventions in which Rihanna had.
